A love of the outdoors and a deep commitment to the environment blossomed into metalledwith jewelry for designer and creator Richelle Dourte. A certified naturalist with a background in environmental science, Richelle’s dedication to the conservation and preservation of the environment is reflected in the craftsmanship of her pieces. Richelle draws inspiration from nature, and through her art, captures its effortless beauty.
The Eastern Woodlands collection was the beginning of metalledwith designs. An avid collector of little leaves and a DIYer at heart, these paths collided when Richelle invented the design to combine her leaves with some plumbing copper and experiment with resin in order to create jewelry gifts for women in her wedding. As she and husband Josh planned their DIY woodland wedding together, they taught themselves all manners of craft (including bookbinding so that they could make their own guestbook). Working together with their hands is a part of what brought and keeps them together as partners. The little leaf jewelry has created a life of its own in metalledwith.
In addition to creating jewelry, Richelle also invests in fostering growth among her local artistic community. She is a Yellow Breeches Chapter-juried member of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen. Richelle also participates as a member of the PA Guild of Craftsmen, Carlisle Arts Learning Center, the Cumberland Valley Historical Society, the Perry County Council of the Arts, and the Boiling Springs Civic Association. When not in her workshop, Richelle advocates for the Manada Conservancy. In the fleeting moments of her down time, Richelle enjoys walks in the woods, the joys of parenting, homesteading and fixing up her old house with her designer husband.
