Summer Workshop Series

June 4, 2014

Metalledwith is now offering workshops on two topics this summer at the studio. These are intimate gatherings of 4-6 people. Know someone who has been wishing to learn, but isn’t able to take a full course? When it comes to working with your hands, the best way to learn is with someone else showing the process and answering questions in real time.

Textures on Metal

Thursday, June 26 from 6-8:30PM
Saturday, July 12 from 9-11:30AM

Richelle will guide participants in creating a take home necklace. Basic metalworking skills will be explained; experience is helpful but not necessary. The theme of this workshop will be Textures on Metal. We will explore texturing through the use of hammering, roll printing designs and letter stamps. Materials are included in the price of this take-home workshop at $65.

Soldering

Saturday, June 28 from 9-11:30AM
Thursday, July 10 from 6-8:30PM

This Soldering workshop will explore the basics of silver soldering on base metals utilizing an acetylene air-intake torch and soldering iron. Learn joins, techniques, and how to recognize when the correct temperature has been achieved. Basic metalworking skills are expected in this workshop. This is ideal for those who have dabbled in assembly, wirework, beading, hammering or other techniques and seek to take the next step in metalworking. Please note that due to the nature of the course (working with fire), attendees must be at least 18 years of age. Materials are included in the price of this instructive workshop and attendees will take their samples, with potential for completed work, home at $75. As our group will be sharing torches, instructions for preparation will be given at registration. Please note that due to the nature of the course (working with fire), attendees must be at least 18 years of age.
